The Z-Tactical SRDN Headset FAST are active tactical hearing protectors with a standard military connector, designed for shooters, hunters and professional operators who need to maintain radio communication without losing situational awareness. The low-profile ear cups are compatible with the FAST helmet and with most low-profile helmets in operational use.

The core of the system is the pair of external ambient microphones that pick up surrounding sounds in stereo: you can hear commands, acoustic signals and activity around you without removing your hearing protection. When the sound level exceeds the damage threshold — as it does at the shot — the active circuit suppresses the peak, protecting hearing without cutting out the audio between strings of fire. This is the fundamental trade-off of active hearing protection: it provides continuous situational awareness at the cost of greater complexity compared to passive protection, and it depends on batteries — 2 AAA cells — to function. Without power, the ambient amplification switches off, but the ear cups continue to provide passive attenuation.

The boom microphone arm is adjustable and allows the transmit microphone to be positioned on whichever side the user prefers. Radio connection is made via a standard military connector: a compatible PTT is required to connect to a radio and is sold separately. This connector format is the same used by numerous systems in professional service and ensures broad compatibility with the most widely available PTT units on the market.
