The ESS ICE NARO are frameless ballistic glasses with a frame approximately 2 cm narrower than the standard ICE model, designed for those who need certified eye protection across changing light conditions. The kit includes three interchangeable polycarbonate lenses, each 2.4 mm thick — clear, dark grey, and yellow — along with a soft carry case.

Ballistic resistance meets NATO military requirements under the MIL-PRF-31013 standard, including projectile testing at calibre 0.15 and direct-impact testing from 10 m. The lenses feature ToughZone scratch-resistant coating, which extends optical service life in operational environments where dust and abrasion are routine. The field of view is unobstructed by any frame edge, a meaningful advantage in situations that demand continuous peripheral awareness.

The three lenses address real-world lighting conditions: the clear lens is suited to indoor use, dusk, and low light; the yellow lens increases contrast in overcast or flat-light conditions, useful in the field for picking out silhouettes and terrain features; the dark grey lens cuts glare in full sunlight without distorting colour perception. The interchangeable-lens design offers versatility, but requires carrying the unmounted lenses with you — the soft case protects the kit but lacks the rigidity of a hard shell, a trade-off that prioritises low weight over maximum protection in transit. The temples are adjustable and can be shaped to fit different face profiles, and the lateral width of the glasses is approximately 12 cm.
