The Merino Military Sock is a technical Merino wool-blend sock designed for those who spend extended hours on their feet or moving across demanding terrain: hunters, operators, and shooters used to long days inside a boot. The fabric combines 30% superfine Merino wool, 60% acrylic, 6% polyamide, 2% Cordura polyamide and 2% Lycra elastane to balance softness, structural durability, and fit.
The Terry Loop knit construction distributes cushioning evenly along the full length of the sock, not just at the heel or toe. This means that during long periods of standing still or moving over uneven ground, the foot works against a consistently cushioned surface with no pressure build-up zones. The low profile and inward-facing cuff prevent rubbing against the upper and support the calf without constricting it.
Merino wool manages moisture naturally: it absorbs water vapour produced by the foot and draws it away from the skin, keeping the internal microclimate drier than a purely synthetic sock. The trade-off worth noting is that this moisture-handling ability is tied to the proportion of natural fibre present: blending with acrylic improves durability and reduces drying time compared to a 100% Merino sock, but slightly reduces the thermal regulation you would get from pure fibre. Flat seams at the toes and heel reduce friction points that cause blisters on long marches. The sock is available in size M (EU 40–43) and L (EU 44–47), weighing 80 g and 85 g respectively. Wash inside out at a maximum of 30 °C; not suitable for tumble drying.
Key points
- Terry Loop knit distributes cushioning along the full length, reducing pressure points during extended marches and prolonged standing.
- Superfine Merino wool wicks moisture away from the skin and keeps the foot in a drier microclimate, reducing the risk of blisters.
- The Cordura and polyamide blend reinforces high-wear zones without adding noticeable weight.
- Flat seams at the toes and heel eliminate folds that cause rubbing inside high-cut footwear.
- The low-profile cuff with inward-facing elastic supports the calf without restricting circulation.
