Helikon-Tex MBDU NyCo Ripstop Shirt

The MBDU Shirt is a combat shirt in NyCo Ripstop fabric — a nylon-cotton blend that combines the abrasion resistance of synthetic fibres with the breathability of natural ones — designed for those who wear a uniform through extended working conditions, whether in an operational environment or during training. The cut is shaped and anatomical, with VersaStretch® side panels that follow the movement of the torso without restricting it.

The standard collar converts to a mandarin collar and fastens with velcro: a solution that lets you adapt the silhouette to the situation without changing garment. Velcro-adjustable cuffs allow the sleeve to be tightened around gloves or loosened for ventilation. Mesh panels in the armpits vent heat from the areas of highest sweat output, where a solid fabric would trap moisture. The combination of mesh and VersaStretch does not replace a garment designed for extreme heat, but it extends comfort across a temperature range that covers most four-season operational scenarios.

The chest pockets close with YKK® zips and are topped by loop panels for patches; on the biceps there are additional zip pockets with internal D-rings for a retaining cord, plus extra loop panels for flags or IFF patches. A rank tab is present on the chest. Snap buttons replace conventional closures at stress points: their wider head holds up better against snagging on a harness and against repeated wear. Anyone using a vest or plate carrier should bear in mind that the chest pockets will be partially covered by the overlying equipment: in that case the sleeve loop panels become the most accessible surface for customisation.
