The Tactical TopCool is a short-sleeve technical t-shirt made from 100% polyester at 190 g/m², designed for those who operate or train in high-heat conditions and cannot afford to wear a garment that holds moisture. Its low weight — 198 g — makes it suitable both as a base layer under a combat shirt and as a standalone piece.
The TopCool fabric manages moisture by wicking it rapidly away from the skin to the outer surface, where it evaporates. This keeps the skin drier than a cotton garment of the same weight, but the water-resistant behaviour is not comparable to that of a membrane: in rain the shirt will get wet, even if it dries faster than natural fibres. This is a material designed for heat and heavy sweating, not for protection from precipitation.
The short sleeves include several practical features: a small-item pocket, loops for hanging sunglasses, and a 5x8.5 cm hook-and-loop panel on each sleeve, large enough for standard patches. The Helikon-Tex logo is embroidered on the lower hem, with no front prints that could degrade with frequent washing. The t-shirt is available in six sizes, from S to 3XL, with a size chart covering chest circumferences from 100 cm to 120 cm and back lengths from 70 cm to 80 cm.
Key points
- The 190 g/m² TopCool polyester wicks sweat away from the skin and dries quickly, reducing discomfort during extended sessions with heavy kit.
- At 198 g, it adds no perceptible weight and fits easily into a layering system with a plate carrier or chest rig.
- The 5x8.5 cm hook-and-loop panels on the sleeves allow identification patches to be attached without any modification to the garment.
- The sunglass loops on the sleeves keep eyewear within reach without using up pockets or MOLLE.
- An embroidered logo rather than a print holds up better over time despite the frequent washing that high-use garments demand.
- Wide size range — S to 3XL — with stated measurements for chest, shoulder width, sleeve and back length.
