Helikon-Tex Patriot MK2 Hybrid Fleece Jacket

The Patriot MK2 is the updated version of the Helikon-Tex Patriot Heavy Fleece: a two-layer hybrid fleece jacket at 340 g/m² designed for those who work or move in outdoor environments when temperatures drop and physical output is high. At 710 grams, it is light enough to pack as a mid-layer or wear as an outer layer in shoulder seasons.

The Hybrid Fleece material combines a traditional fleece outer layer with a cross-stitch inner layer — the same construction used in Alpha-style sweatshirts. The result is better breathability than its predecessor without sacrificing heat retention. Underarm venting lets excess heat escape during fast-paced movement, preventing sweat from building up against the skin. The jacket is neither waterproof nor water-resistant: it is intended as a mid-layer under a shell, or as an outer layer in dry, cold conditions.

Closure is handled by a long two-way YKK zip with integrated chin and beard guard built into the collar — a detail that matters when the zip is pulled all the way up and the wind is coming from the side. The adjustable hood features a rigid peak and drawcords with cord locks; raglan sleeves eliminate shoulder seams so the jacket does not interfere with a pack or harness. Seven pockets in total — two low front handwarmer pockets accessible with winter gloves, two flat chest pockets, two shoulder pockets, one internal pocket — plus Velcro panels on the sleeves round out the feature set without adding unnecessary weight. Elastic cuffs and a lengthened, drawcord-adjustable rear hem seal the fit and prevent draughts during movement.
