The Helikon-Tex EDC Utility Mat is a portable work surface designed for those who carry out weapon maintenance away from a fixed range: in the field, in a vehicle, or at a temporary position. Measuring 25.5 x 21.5 cm with a thickness of 3 mm, it folds and rolls up in seconds and stays flat during cleaning and disassembly.

The neoprene material offers two practical advantages: the slightly soft surface retains small components — springs, pins and screws — reducing the risk of them rolling away during disassembly, while the closed-cell structure does not absorb oils or solvents, meaning the mat can be cleaned quickly with a simple wipe. At 96 g, it adds nothing meaningful to an overall load, making it well suited for those already carrying field kit.

The mat features a guide printed directly on the surface: useful during training or when disassembling a weapon under stress or with limited familiarity with the procedure. It should be noted, however, that the flat surface without raised edges is not a substitute for a maintenance tray: on uneven surfaces or in high wind, small components require extra attention.
