The FMA PEQ LA5 Upgrade Version V2 is a multi-function designator-style module combining three independent light sources — white LED, visible green laser, and IR — in a compact body weighing 155 g. It is designed to mount on Picatinny rail as an auxiliary illumination and aiming device for shooting, hunting, or professional use, where switching quickly between functions without shifting grip on the handguard matters.

The independent IR output allows operation under night vision without activating the white light or visible laser: all three functions are separate and individually selectable through dedicated modes. AL mode activates both laser and white light simultaneously for situations where both inputs are needed, while a double press on each mode toggles between momentary and constant-on — an operationally relevant distinction, since momentary mode reduces battery consumption and limits light signature when a continuous signal is not required.

The trade-off to consider is in the power source: the module takes 2 CR123A batteries or 16340/RCR123A rechargeable cells at 3 V or 3.7 V, which are not included. The flexibility is genuine, but CR123A cells offer higher energy density at the same form factor, while 3.7 V RCR123A cells may exceed rated voltage at full charge — a factor worth evaluating based on intended use. The remote cable switch included in the box allows the module to be actuated without releasing grip, which is useful when the device is positioned away from the support hand.
