FMA

The FMA Manta Strobe Type 2 is a dual-mode tactical strobe — visible red and infrared — designed for helmet mounting. At 76 mm long, 52 mm wide and 35 mm tall, it adds minimal bulk to the helmet profile even during movement.

The high-impact polymer body is contoured to follow the curvature of modern high-cut helmets, maintaining a secure fit on non-ballistic shells as well. The activation button is positioned for intuitive one-handed operation without shifting your gaze — a detail that matters when the other hand is occupied. On power-up, a small motor pulses three times to confirm the unit is active, with no uncontrolled sound or light output.

The dual side button requires simultaneous pressure on both sides to activate infrared mode: this reduces the risk of accidental IR activation, which would be invisible to the naked eye but detectable by any night vision device. When IR is active, the button turns white as a visual status indicator — a feature that helps prevent inadvertent activation in low-light conditions. The red strobe mode is accessible by pressing a single button. The unit runs on a single 3 V CR123 battery, not included. Stated weight is 43 g without battery.

Key points

  • The body contour follows the profile of modern high-cut helmets without requiring additional adapters on standard shells.
  • The dual-button simultaneous-press system for IR mode meaningfully reduces the risk of accidental infrared activation, which is invisible without night vision devices.
  • Vibrational feedback on activation confirms the unit is operational with no unwanted light or sound output.
  • The button can be located by touch with one hand, even when wearing gloves.
  • The Tan (DE) finish reduces visual signature in the field compared to darker colour variants, without adding weight or bulk.
