The FMA Manta Strobe Type 2 is a dual-output optical marker — visible red light and infrared — designed to mount on modern helmets. The curved rear profile fits both contemporary ballistic shells and non-ballistic helmets, making it compatible with most helmets found in professional use.

The operational distinction between the two modes is reinforced by an active safety system: activating IR mode requires both sides of the button to be pressed simultaneously, and the red light switches off automatically when IR is running. This prevents accidental visible light emission during operations conducted with night vision devices, where an unintended red flash can compromise the concealment of an entire element. IR is invisible to the naked eye and can only be detected through night vision amplification devices or a digital camera.

On activation, a small motor vibrates three times to confirm the unit is live — a tactile feedback that is useful when the operator is wearing gloves or working in the dark and cannot visually check the device status. The end caps are sized to be located and operated with gloves on. The required battery is a 3 V CR123, not included: worth factoring into field battery logistics, though the CR123 is the most common format among tactical torches and lasers.
