The FMA FARA OTH is a universal adapter that allows Peltor and MSA tactical headsets to be mounted on helmets fitted with an ARC rail, removing the need for dedicated attachments for each headset model. Weighing just 10 g in nylon, it adds negligible mass to the helmet without affecting balance.
Compatibility with the COMTAC series (C1, C2, C3, C4), Liberator (I, II, III) and MSA Sordin is achieved through interchangeable connecting elements: users who run multiple headset models across different contexts do not need to carry separate adapters or reconfigure the helmet each time. This simplifies kit management, particularly in operational environments where time matters.
The 90° forward and rearward rotation lets the user lower or raise the headset without removing the helmet, allowing the acoustic configuration to be adjusted quickly to the situation. The mounting is designed to distribute load without creating uncomfortable pressure points on the side of the head, making it suitable for extended wear. The trade-off to bear in mind is that, like all OTH (over-the-helmet) adapters, this system requires a helmet with an ARC rail: it is not compatible with helmets lacking that rail or with different mounting systems.
