The Figure 9 Carabiner Rope Tightener by Nite Ize is an aluminium rope tensioner with an integrated carabiner, designed to tension, anchor and secure ropes with a diameter between 2 and 5 mm without tying knots. At 13 g and 33.5×68.6×7.7 mm, it is the kind of item that earns a permanent place in a pack or clipped to gear.

The system offers three anchoring modes — loop, fixed point and carabiner — indicated directly on the body of the device with laser-engraved cord direction markings. The carabiner locking mechanism has a 9 mm gate opening and allows the tensioner to be clipped to any crossbar, strap or ring, with a maximum load rating of 22.5 kg. The practical advantage over a traditional knot is speed of adjustment and release: the line can be tensioned or slackened in seconds, with nothing to untie.
