The three-point system works like a harness: it attaches the replica at both the front handguard and the stock, distributing the weight across the chest and keeping the replica against the body even when fully released. Anyone who needs to transition to a sidearm or perform another task with both hands free will find this the main advantage over a single-point sling, which tends to let the replica swing freely, or a two-point sling, which offers less freedom of movement. The trade-off to bear in mind is that a three-point sling introduces more webbing and more attachment points than simpler solutions: during fast movement or when rolling on the ground, the extra segments can become tangled; those who prioritise maximum operational simplicity may prefer a single-point sling.
