Gerber Freescape Camp Bow Saw Field Saw — Green

The Freescape Camp Bow Saw is a folding bow saw from Gerber designed for camping and work in natural environments. With a 305 mm blade and open dimensions of 368x178x28 mm, it offers a useful cutting length for medium-sized branches, stake holes and firewood collection, folding down to 351x46x28 mm for transport.

The fibreglass-reinforced nylon frame with rubberised surface keeps weight to 420 g without sacrificing bow rigidity: an overly flexible frame would cause the blade to wander during cutting, wasting energy and reducing cut accuracy. The rubberised grip ensures a secure hold even with gloves or wet hands — both common conditions in outdoor use.

Compatibility with standard 305 mm blades (the 30 cm format, the market standard for this type of saw) is a real advantage on long expeditions: if the blade dulls, it can be replaced in the field with any commercially available 30 cm blade, without having to carry a spare saw. This sets it apart from fixed-blade saws, which are more compact but cannot be updated.
