Helikon-Tex Windrunner WindPack Nylon Windproof Jacket

The Windrunner is an ultralight windproof jacket by Helikon-Tex made from WindPack nylon, designed for outdoor use, hunting, or tactical operations where you need a protective layer that stays out of the way. Its main strength is packability: the jacket stows into its own internal pocket, compressing down to a pocket-sized bundle that slips into a backpack or cargo pocket without eating into space needed for gear.

The WindPack Nylon fabric is treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellency) finish, which sheds light rain and spray without turning the jacket into a waterproof membrane: water beads off in moderate conditions, but during heavy, prolonged rain it won't provide the same protection as a laminated membrane jacket. The advantage of this construction choice is breathability: mesh vents under the arms dissipate heat during high-output activity, preventing moisture build-up inside that would undermine any insulating layer worn beneath.

Elastic cuffs, an adjustable drawcord on the hem, and an adjustable hood seal the main air entry points without needing constant readjustment. Reinforced elbows hold up to repeated ground contact and use in the prone position. Worn directly over a base layer it works through shoulder seasons; paired with a thermal mid-layer it handles considerably colder conditions, while still packing down to minimal size when not needed.
