Repeated dry cycling on an unloaded smoothbore puts the firing pin through blank impacts that can cause cracks or deformation over time. The Snap Cap absorbs firing pin energy through a cushioned primer, protecting internal components and allowing hundreds of repetitions without premature wear. This also makes them suitable for trigger function checks and rapid-reload drills on pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns.
