HIKMICRO Lynx LC06S Thermal Monocular

The Lynx LC06S is a compact thermal monocular from HIKMICRO, designed for observation in low-light or total darkness. With a 6 mm objective and an uncooled 160x120 pixel sensor, it covers a field of view adequate for detection out to 250 metres, while keeping a small footprint — 158x60x57 mm — and a weight of 250 g. It suits wildlife observation, perimeter surveillance, and airsoft use for reconnaissance and night-time target acquisition.

The sensor operates with a NETD sensitivity below 35 mK, meaning it picks up very small temperature differences and renders visible subjects that barely stand out from their surroundings. The image is processed in real time by three algorithms — AGC for automatic contrast management, DDE for edge detail recovery, and 3D DNR for noise reduction — and displayed on an 800x600 pixel OLED screen. The result is a well-contrasted image even when the thermal difference between subject and background is narrow, such as in already warm environments. Four selectable colour palettes let you choose the most readable rendering for the situation at hand.

Digital zoom reaches up to 4x, but the typical trade-off of this technology applies: digital magnification does not add information, it enlarges existing pixels, so image quality degrades beyond a certain point. The sensor's 160x120 pixel resolution is the real limiting factor for fine detail at distance — the LC06S is a detection and orientation tool, not a long-range identification device. The built-in stadiametric rangefinder estimates the distance to a target of known size without additional equipment. IP67 certification ensures dust and water resistance, making it usable in difficult weather conditions.
