The Range Hoodie is a tactical hooded sweatshirt developed by Helikon-Tex specifically for the shooting range and dynamic training. The extended hem — designed to stay tucked in during movement — combined with stretch and tear-resistant fabrics sets it clearly apart from a standard sports hoodie. It is a practical answer to cold days when the Range Polo is no longer enough, without giving up the freedom of movement that shooting demands.
The main body in 100% TopCool polyester actively wicks moisture away from the skin, keeping you dry during intense sessions. The underarm panels, made from 93% nylon and 7% elastane with a polyester mesh lining, serve two purposes in one critical area: the mesh improves ventilation where heat builds up most, while the nylon-elastane blend follows arm movement in any shooting position without creating resistance or friction on the muzzle side. The trade-off to be aware of: the main polyester fabric offers light wind resistance and dries quickly, but is neither waterproof nor water-repellent treated — in heavy rain it should be paired with an outer shell.
The hood is anatomically cut to avoid compromising peripheral vision or the use of hearing protection. The zippered kangaroo pocket allows documents or accessories to be stored securely without risk of loss during movement. The shoulder zip pockets add carrying capacity in a position that remains accessible even when wearing a plate carrier or a high-ride belt. Paired with a thermal base layer and technical trousers, it covers the temperature range where a shooting shirt alone is no longer sufficient.
