The Gerber Prodigy is a fixed-blade knife with a serrated edge, derived directly from the LMF II, aimed at those who need tactical knife performance in a more compact package. With an overall length of 248 mm and a 121 mm blade, it sits in the belt-carry segment for professional use, hunting, and demanding outdoor work.

The blade is full-tang 420HC American steel with a ceramic coating: the finish reduces reflection and slows surface oxidation without relying on aggressive chemical treatments. The serrated geometry is optimised for cutting fibrous materials — rope, straps, technical fabrics — where a plain edge requires multiple passes. The trade-off is the one inherent to serrations: cutting aggression is high, but sharpening requires dedicated tooling to dress individual teeth, unlike a flat-ground plain edge.

The glass-filled nylon handle with SoftGrip rubber overmold maintains grip with wet hands or gloves. The rigid polymer sheath is MOLLE-compatible and includes a thigh strap: the friction-retention system with thumb break allows one-handed draw, but the sheath must be kept correctly oriented since retention is not a mechanical snap lock.
