Choosing a high ring is not just a matter of clearance: on an airsoft replica with fixed iron sights, the raised height keeps the backup sight line unobstructed when using an optic with a smaller tube diameter. When mounting a scope with a large objective, the height becomes necessary to prevent the tube from contacting the receiver or the side rails. The trade-off to keep in mind is that the optical axis sits further from the bore axis: cheek weld changes, and on a replica without an adjustable stock this may require some adjustment to your shooting position.

The pair distributes the load across two mounting points, reducing stress on the optic during the automatic or semi-automatic fire typical of airsoft. Compatibility with 21 mm rails makes them suitable for the vast majority of replicas currently available.
