The Cougar Membrane is a windproof jacket in 100% nylon with a DuPont Teflon surface treatment, designed for shooters, hunters and operators who work outdoors in windy conditions and light rain. The Helikon-Tex Windblocker membrane system blocks airflow, while the Teflon treatment causes water and dirt to bead and roll off without penetrating the fabric.
The DuPont Teflon treatment makes the surface water-repellent: water beads up and runs off, but the fabric is not a sealed waterproof membrane — in heavy or prolonged rain, moisture can work its way through. The Cougar is intended as an outer layer in windy conditions and moderate precipitation, not as a heavy rain jacket. This distinction matters when building a layering system: it works well over a thermal fleece, but does not replace a hard-shell gore-tex jacket.
Underarm vents, combined with a hem drawcord and adjustable velcro cuffs, let you tune fit and airflow to the activity. The hood stows in the collar and deploys and adjusts without taking your hands off; the drawcord runs internally with no exposed parts to snag. The QSA (Quick Side Access) system opens the jacket from the hem on both sides via a two-way YKK zip, giving you access to your belt — holster, torch, knife — without opening the front of the jacket and losing warmth.
