The FMA Helmet Balancing Rear Pouch is a counterweight pouch designed to mount on the rear of helmets fitted with an ARC rail, such as FAST, MICH and compatible models. It weighs 257 g complete with accessories and is constructed from nylon with metal mounting hardware. Its purpose is to restore balanced weight distribution when the front of the helmet is loaded down by devices such as night vision units, torches or additional counterweights.

It attaches via the rear screws of the ARC rail and a Velcro strip on the back of the helmet — the dual attachment is intentional, because a counterweight that shifts during intense activity is worse than no counterweight at all. Internal elastic straps retain the lead blocks included in the package — five at 70 g each — but the same compartment also accepts AA, AAA or CR123A batteries, making the pouch useful as a power source for helmet-mounted devices. Choosing how many blocks to insert lets you fine-tune the balance to match the actual front-end weight, without having to reconfigure the entire setup.

The outer surface is Velcro-compatible, allowing infrared lights, IFF markers or beacons to be attached without using up other positions on the helmet. The low-profile design avoids interference with backpacks, straps or neck protection. It should be noted that the elastic retention of the blocks is effective under normal conditions of use, but is not designed for aquatic environments or prolonged inverted positions — in those situations, retention should be verified before deployment.
