External speaker microphone for handheld transceivers fitted with the standard Kenwood two-jack connector (2.5 mm + 3.5 mm). Designed for use with Baofeng radios — including the UV-5R, UV-5RE, UV-5RS, UV-5RU and Military variants — but also compatible with INTEK KT-980 HP, TYT and other transceivers sharing the same connector standard. Not compatible with WOUXUN radios.

The accessory combines two functions in one: it plays incoming audio through the built-in speaker and, when the integrated PTT button is pressed, activates the microphone to transmit voice without handling the radio. This allows the transceiver to be kept in a pocket, a vest radio pocket or a bag, reducing unnecessary movement during patrols, static observation or outdoor activity.

Choosing an external speaker mic over direct radio operation involves a trade-off worth considering: you gain operational convenience and faster communication response, but you add a cable and an extra connector that can suffer wear or accidental disconnection under heavy use. For occasional or stationary use the benefit is immediate; for sustained dynamic use it is worth checking the connection quality periodically.
