The UV-82 HP is a dual band handheld transceiver operating on VHF (136–174 MHz) and UHF (400–520 MHz), with a peak output of 8 W on VHF and 7 W on UHF. It is widely used in airsoft for squad and field operator communications, and suits any scenario requiring simultaneous coverage on two bands.

The dual display and dual watch function allow two frequencies to be monitored at the same time: the operator can keep an eye on the squad channel and a coordination channel without switching frequency. The dual PTT button (A/B) lets you transmit on the selected channel without navigating menus — a practical advantage when working in low-visibility conditions or with gloves on. Output power is switchable across three levels — 8 W / 5 W / 1 W on VHF and 7 W / 4 W / 1 W on UHF — so range can be reduced to limit interference or to cut power consumption during longer sessions.

With 128 memory channels, 50 CTCSS tones and 104 DCS codes, the UV-82 HP supports PC programming with channel name assignment, useful for organising unit frequencies, emergency frequencies and repeater channels. The VOX function offers 10 sensitivity levels for hands-free operation. One important point: transmitting on many of the frequencies covered by this radio requires an appropriate licence; check current regulations before transmitting outside the freely usable PMR446 channels.
