Helikon-Tex Backblast Mat Shooting Mat — Adaptive Green

The Backblast Mat is Helikon-Tex's shooting mat designed for prone-position shooters: when rolled up it packs down to a compact size and can be carried by shoulder strap or integrated handle, slotting naturally into a range kit or hunting setup.

The construction uses a double layer of Cordura® 500D with an interposed foam core: the fabric handles the abrasion of hard and uneven ground while the foam cushions elbow and knee contact during extended sessions. Anti-slip reinforcements at the elbows and knees prevent lateral body drift during shooting, holding your position without having to reset between shots. Perimeter pin loops let you stake the mat to the ground, eliminating the problem of the mat itself sliding on grass or muddy surfaces.

The loop panel covering the entire front face accepts MOLLE pouches and inserts, turning the mat into an organised shooting station: magazines, brass and maintenance tools stay within reach without cluttering the ground around you. The detachable, adjustable Y-strap for the bipod clips at three anchor points and distributes tension in a way that stabilises the system even on sloped ground — a practical advantage over single-strap solutions, which tend to rotate under lateral load. It is worth keeping in mind that the compact profile and low weight favour portability over maximum padding: shooters who run very long sessions on gravel or concrete may prefer a mat with thicker foam.
