The RD-2 is an open-tube red dot with an integrated quick-detach (QD) mount, designed for shooters who need to attach or remove their optic in seconds without tools. Weighing 190 g including the mount, it sits in the compact red dot category and suits both carbines and hunting rifles on Picatinny rails.
The open window delivers a virtually unlimited field of view: the shooter can keep both eyes open and acquire the target without a tube frame surrounding the dot. This design works well at close to medium range, where speed of acquisition matters more than magnification. The absence of a closed tube also makes cleaning the internal optics easier — more exposed, but directly accessible.
The integrated QD mount is what sets this model apart from a fixed-mount red dot: it allows switching to backup iron sights or transferring the optic to another platform in moments. The trade-off is return-to-zero tolerance after remounting: a properly adjusted QD will bring the point of impact back within acceptable margins for tactical and hunting use, but anyone requiring the absolute repeatability of a torqued ring mount will prefer a fixed mount. The required battery is a CR1632, not included.
Key points
- The integrated QD mount allows tool-free attachment and removal, useful when alternating optics on the same platform.
- The open-tube design maximises target acquisition speed with both eyes open at close range.
- The 190 g weight including the mount does not noticeably affect the balance of the firearm.
- The Desert finish integrates with sand or desert camouflage setups without requiring additional painting.
